2016 at a glance

While some may claim that 2016 has been a year to forget for many reasons, we on the other hand, have embraced the calendar year with a big warm bear hug! As we prepare for the year ahead (determined to hit the ground running), we reflect on what has been an extremely successful, busy and, at times, challenging 2016. Our team continues to grow, as do our families and our client list. This year saw a number of prestigious projects come our way, including a very challenging & high end Surrey home with his and hers walk in closets, copious amounts of clever storage solutions and even a secret opening bookcase conceived by our design extraordinaire Julia and technical guru Konrad. Other projects took us as far as Manchester and Leicester, but many kept us close to home in our South West London studio. We had good reason to celebrate when our very own ‘action man’ Lucas became a father for the first time and if he’s as good a dad as he is a furniture fitter, then his little one is going to have a great childhood! Not only did Lucas gain a son, he also gained a promotion and we’re very happy to announce that he is now a senior fitter.

Our own family also grew as we also welcomed Tom to the team as Business Development Manager. His main goal has been to connect with professionals within the property industry, including Interior Designers, Architects, Construction Companies and Property Developers. He’s settled in extremely well and has already supplied a number of leads on some very exciting and prestigious projects as well as introducing the team to some really influential companies and individuals who we look forward to collaborating with in 2017.

Another new member of the Barbara Genda family is Damian who joins us as a junior fitter, working alongside one of our senior fitters Martin and they’ve already proved to be a fantastic team. In the short time he has been with us, Damian has demonstrated all the qualities and attributes of a great team player and an extremely skilled fitter.Again, it’s been a wonderful year for the rest of our core team as well. Our Queen of Communication, Kinga continues to outdo herself in her efficiency and ability to keep the whole team in perfect working order. Our senior fitters Martin and Gabriel have worked tirelessly throughout the year to complete all installations to a brilliant standard, as always, and we’re proud to say, they have received countless compliments wherever they go for their hard work and professionalism. We survived a flooded office earlier on in the year, had to move out temporarily and refurbish. We didn’t let it stop our hard work and creativity, and luckily we all look great in wellies!September saw us exhibit our work at 100% Design show at Olympia London, where we connected with a huge number of like-minded designers, creatives and prospective clients. It was a fantastic chance to share our expertise and to see first-hand what new and exciting products will be available in 2017. Enquiries are still coming in from people who passed by our stand so we’re very pleased to have been part of a fantastic event.

After months and months of hard work from Barbara herself (with the help of 2 very talented web developers, Dan Lane and Thomas Poulsen) our new branding and website is now ready to go live and we’re so excited about showing it off. The new design is a sleek and stylish upgrade with the easy-to-use and “easy on the eye” website giving our customers a chance to see exactly how we work and browse some of our latest and greatest projects. You’re sure to see the new branding popping up all over the place in the new year so keep an eye out for it.

As well as our very own (very busy) workshop, we have also expanded to work with 2 new workshops because of the sheer volume of orders, which means we have increased our capacity to create even more stunning and truly bespoke furniture in 2017. With 4 months of orders already confirmed for next year, we’re glad we did!

So what’s our plan for 2017? With more and more meetings taking place in our studio, we’re looking to spruce it up with a slight revamp. Our new and updated catalogue is due out, we have lots of orders in the pipeline and will be exhibiting at both Decorex and House trade shows. We’ll also be taking a little trip to Milan to check out the trends and stay ahead of the game. Thank you to everyone who we have worked with over the course of the year, and to those who we are yet to work with, we look forward to collaborating with you in 2017 and the future. Wishing you all the very best for the year ahead.
