Use natural colours

To create a spa-like feel use a colour palette that features blue, greens and natural tones. Blue helps to stimulate the look of water and is known for its calming properties. Delicate and soft mood lighting will also help to create an ambient atmosphere.

Accessories

Adding certain accessories will help to add warmth. A rug at the end or side of the bed always looks impressive and will give the room an added touch of style. Fresh flowers are a great way of creating zen in an instant. Jasmine has a soothing effect on the body and mind and it’s been proven to reduce anxiety, leading to a greater quality of sleep.

Roll top bath

Possibly one of the most spa like things you can do is to incorporate a bath into your bedroom design. This screams relaxation, opulence and you will create a zen like feel in an instant. Think carefully about placement and only opt for this option if you have plenty of room though.

Get rid of clutter

This is the perfect excuse to have a clear out! Clutter is one of the biggest barriers between you and relaxing. When you think back to a relaxing spa it’s all about minimalism. Having a walk-in closet to banish all clothes will create a clutter free space, which is calming and relaxing space.

Candles

This is one of the easiest ways to create calm in your bedroom. There is an abundance of candles that will create that peaceful environment. Jo Malone’s citrus scents – Orange Blossom is one of our favourites – and if it’s good enough for Kate Middleton it’s good enough for us!
