Minimalism or Maximalism: What Is Your Home?
From how we organise to how we decorate, your home is a reflection of your personality and personal style. Whether we live alone, with a significant other, with a group of people or whether or not we have children, all these factors contribute to what our home looks like and how it functions.

It's unrealistic and impractical to live in a home that looks like a magazine spread. But if we understand our interior taste, we can complement our living spaces and design a sanctuary.
Minimalist Home
A minimalist home is all about clean lines, clear spaces and plain colours. Minimalist decor embraces storage and appreciates the simplicity of having only what is necessary. It doesn't mean you don't have many belongings, but they are organised, stored away and out of sight.
According to Joshua Becker from beingminimalist.com, "At its core, minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of everything that distracts us from it. It is a life that forces intentionality.”
Having a minimalist home isn't about owning less, but rather removing the need to focus on material possessions and appreciating the things that have value and meaning.
Maximalist Home
A maximalist home is the complete opposite to a minimalist home but isn't necessarily about clutter. The maximalist style is about creativity and variety with bold colours and patterns. A maximalist home is full of life and history, telling a story of the homeowner's life and personality.
A maximalist home boasts plenty of colour and patterns. Surfaces are plentiful and covered with both decorative and useful objects.
A maximalist home utilises every inch of space, and more often, there is no set theme. A person who has maximalist tendencies are often collectors and will display objects that are valuable or meaningful. Perhaps they are family heirlooms or have been collected from their travels.
Somewhere In-between
For most people, particularly those with small children or pets or who don't live alone, find it impossible to maintain a minimalist environment. Most people, while having tendencies to be minimalist and maximalist, fall somewhere in between.
Whether you are a minimalist or a maximalist, furniture and storage are important, so that you can have a place to put things that you use daily or want to display, while finding a balance between organisation and personalisation.
