Traditional English Country House Interiors

For many, creating their own picturesque home in the English countryside is the dream. However, traditional English country house style can be hard to replicate. It is a look that manages to be both timeless and liveable, grand but comfortable.

Layered textures, cushions and throws add to the welcoming appeal of a countryside home. Traditional pattern designs such as tartans, florals and natural colours on furniture design and coverings flow harmoniously in country houses.

More often than not, the best examples of English country house style come from their look from generations of inhabitants collecting objects and modifying the existing decor. Of course, there are ways to bring a little of this style to your own home.

English country style decor

A classic country home interior relies heavily on decoration. Rugs, paintings and furnishings inject personality and authenticity into the house. More is more in country homes, with furniture often bold or engraved with intricate detail.

Adding to the well-aged character of the classic country home is wooden furniture. Typical wooden furniture is made from oak, mahogany or pine, with door handles and taps are often made of brass for a traditional rustic feel.

Boot rooms can be very useful when you live in the countryside, allowing for a place to store your wet and muddy boots, coats, hats and scarves away from the rest of your clean home. Decorating the boot room with wood features helps to create a transition between nature and the inside of your home.
