Walk-In Wardrobes: A Modern Storage Solution

In today's busy modern world, improving your home and making it more practical is something we all aspire to achieve.

A great solution for improving the practicality of your home is to have a bespoke walk-in wardrobe that holds all your belongings, so you can quickly locate your items and get ready for a new day.

If you are fortunate enough to have the space for a walk-in wardrobe it is important to carefully design your bespoke wardrobe to make the best use of space.

Below we share our best guidelines on designing your dream walk-in wardrobe for maximum storage:

Evaluate your wardrobe

It's important to evaluate your wardrobe and take an inventory of what you own. Do you have more blouses than dresses? Do you own any large winter coats and jackets? Shirts, blouses and t-shirts belong in double-hang sections, while dresses, long coats and jackets normally need single-hang sections.

If you don't have many dresses, use only double-hang sections as this will help you maximise your storage space. Men's wardrobe spaces normally don't require many, if any, single-hang sections.

Consider corner shelves

Corner shelves in walk-in wardrobes help to create a more seamless wardrobe design and more storage space but can be difficult to access. They are a great place to hang seasonal attire, such as winter coats or luggage bags, in these hidden spots.

Room for an island?

Islands are a dream addition to any walk-in wardrobe, adding further storage solutions and event a seating area, but the spacing has to be right. The more clearance space for islands with pullout drawers, the better, so only consider an island if you have sufficient space.

Think shoes

If you're including a shoe rack, it's important to ensure your shelves and cubbyholes are big enough to comfortably store your shoe collection. If you own high-heels and boots, ensure some of your shelves and cubbyholes are high enough to fit them.

Also, consider a place to put on your shoes such as a free-standing bench or chair.

Don't forget accessories

No household is short on accessories, be they bags, jewellery, ties or belts. It helps to have an organised space in your walk-in wardrobe for these belongings too.
