This project by bespoke joinery specialist Barbara Genda shows how built in storage can maximise available space in a loft conversion. When they adapt the attic into habitable rooms, homeowners lose the general storage space they once had, so it can be important to try to reinstate some of that, as well as provide wardrobes and drawers for the room’s new use.
Pull out show racks make use of some of the awkward areas where there is not enough headroom but plenty of depth, while the drawers are spaced exactly between the rafters to maximise space. Wardrobes with slanting doors sit neatly under the eaves.
Barbara Genda’s projects cost from £1,200 per linear metre and this particular scheme came in at £45,000.READ ARTICLE
