An eye-catching creation

A contemporary home with an intriguing design

A TV presenter with an interest in interior design initially approached Barbara Genda to design their bedroom wardrobes, located under eaves, and a walk-in closet. Impressed with this initial piece of work, Barbara received further commissions for the design of a library, study furniture and playroom

furniture. For the library, a creative solution was designed with one space leading cleverly into another creating a room within a room. Finally a further commission was placed for a utility room in their East Sussex retreat, in a modern but laid-back style using natural woods.

This clever dedicated library space leads into the playroom, which appears as though it is a room within a room. The open-ended library bookshelves are in a walnut veneer with display alcoves in the centre

The perfect gentleman’s study was created in the extended part of the house. Bookshelves wrapped around the corner of the house with a stunning effect, with a low-level sliding door and stationary drawers above.

Useful storage space was created for the children with toy boxes on castors along with shelves and cupboards in white lacquer to continue the contemporary theme. In the master bedroom, an eaves sliding wardrobe with extra depth made space for double-stack hanging as well as shelves, hanging space and deep drawer. Opaque glass panels in the solid oak frame finished the look of this modern space.
