Contemporary makeover for London flat

Clean lines and a modern makeover for this bijoux London space

Following a recommendation from another satisfied Barbara Genda client, American Diana Sherer need help with the design and production of her new London flat. The scope included a full refurbishment of two bedrooms with wardrobes, bedroom furniture and headboards. The initial brief included the living room joinery and a subsequent

brief added a coat and utility closet in the hallway. The brief for this compact and bijoux apartment was to create a contemporary space with clean lines. As well as a modern finish it also needed to be practical for everyday living.

Once Mrs Amin saw details of some of Barbara's other bespoke kitchen designs, she decided to have Barbara design a new kitchen for her house, getting rid of the cheap, high street kitchen units the house had been sold with.

To bring a contemporary calm to this space graphite oak was chosen for the wardrobes, which have a high gloss finish and finger pull handles. To meet the requirement for practicality the matching dresser has nine drawers providing ample storage. An ingenious radiator cover was created with a vanity drawer and mirror for a purposeful dressing table.

The guest bedroom needed to be a flexible space for a single or king bed, so a zip and link bed provided the perfect solution. A panelled wall headboard with two freestanding lights was designed, which can be moved around the linked or delinked beds to suit. A matching wardrobe in gloss-lacquered finish was also created in the chosen contemporary colour scheme of grey oak veneer.
